BE MORE CHILL CAST & CREW

STACIE BARRA (Katrina) is delighted to be working with Griffin once again. Last summer she appeared as the quirky Marie-Louise in Griffin’s production of The Constant Wife. Most recently Stacie was seen as The Dog Woman in The Island of Doctor Moreau with Lifeline Theatre. Other companies she has enjoyed working with include: The Milwaukee Rep, The Factory Theater, Chemically Imbalanced Comedy, and Stockyards Theatre Project to name a few. In January she will take on the greatest role of her life, Wife, when she marries her handsome fiancé Anthony!

BRAD BUKAUSKAS (Rich) is excited to be working with the Griffin Theatre again. Some other Griffin credits include Letter’s Home, There’s a Boy in the Girl’s Bathroom, and Journey’s End. Some of his other favorite credits include Mojo (Mary-Arrchie), Gary (Steppenwolf) and Mercury Fur (Broken Compass). Brad is a proud company member of Mary-Arrchie Theatre. He has a B.A. in theatre
from Columbia College. Brad would like to thank his friends and family for all of their love and support.

JAKE COHEN (Jeremy Heere) is thrilled to be working with the Griffin Theatre for the first time. A junior theatre major at Northwestern University, recent credits include Keck in the Chicago Premiere of Thrush, George in Rag and Bone, and Ben in A Mikvah at the 2007 NYC International Fringe Festival. This past summer, he was proud to serve as a teaching assistant at the Goodman Theatre’s General Theatre Studies program. Thanks so much to the entire team for a wonderful experience.

CHARLES FILIPOV (Michael) is a San Francisco native and is currently a junior theatre major at Northwestern University. This is his second production with Griffin Theatre, the first being Dead End
in 2006 (playing Angel). Favorite Northwestern credits include Cass in Shoppers Carried by Escalators into the Flames, Preposterous Rhinoceros in Just So, and Doug in Six Degrees of Separation. Charles is an ensemble actor in Northwestern Student Television (NSTV), Northwestern’s premier sketchcomedy group.

CAROLINE FOURMY (Anne) is a Northwestern theatre grad and a native of Memphis, TN. She was last seen in Collaboraction’s Stonehenge, and Apple Tree Theatre’s The Devil’s Arithmetic. She can also be seen singing with the western swing/blues/jazz band, The Sons of Susan, and teaching ballroom dancing to fifth graders on the south side! She’s thrilled to be working on such a giggleinducing show for the first time with Griffin, and she would like to thank Jon Berry for being so chill, her friends and family for their support and light, and her alma mater, White Station High School, for all the glorious, angsty memories that this show has stirred up. GO SPARTANS!

MARSHA HARMAN (Mom, Aunt Linda) is excited to work with Griffin Theatre again because she loved The Stinky Cheese Man so very much. A proud member of New Leaf Theatre, Marsha recently performed in their production of The Dining Room. Other credits with New Leaf include Reckless, Brilliant Traces, and the Jeff-Nominated productions of As It Is In Heaven and The Permanent Way. She is also affiliated with the Bakerloo Theatre Project in New York, where she has performed in Julius Caesar, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth, Antigone, and The Imaginary Invalid.Marsha holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Drew University and a Master’s Degree from Catholic University in Washington,D.C.

JOHN RYAN MURPHY (Mark/Brock) grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago. He attends Columbia College for acting.There he has been in a handful of directing projects. He also is a busker on State St. and Michigan Ave. and a songwriter. He enjoys getting up to get down as well as knowing how to use the three shells. His favorite fish is the tuna, before its canned of course.

CAROLINE NEFF (Chloe) is beyond thrilled to be working with the Griffin for the first time and to have such a talented cast to be on stage with. She is a company member at Steep Theatre, where she has been seen as Gwen in Coronado and Curley’s Wife in Of Mice and Men. She has also had the opportunity to work with Mary-Arrchie and Infamous Commonwealth. She wants to give her utmost thanks and respect
to Bill and Jonathan, who made high school better the second time, Steep, and, of course, her family.

EDWARD PAUL (Squip) is pleased to be appearing as Squip in Griffin Theatre’s production of Be More Chill. He is a proud graduate of The Theatre School of DePaul University (Barat College Campus). Edward has also studied the art of improvisation at I.O and is a rock percussionist of twelve years. Some of his theatre acting credits include: How I Spent My Last Night on Earth (Andros Bliss, Mr. Dante), Letters Home (Matthew Webster,Matt Hardman) and Stardust (Mr. Brown, Tertius, Captain, Sailor) Griffin Theatre, Snow Flake Tim’s Big Holiday Adventure (Snow Flake Tim) Lifeline Theatre, Tape (Vince) and Lake Street Extension (Trace) Oracle Productions. Edward has also appeared in The Tempest and Othello at Shakespeare on the Green. He would like to thank his beautiful wife Karin and his family for all of their support.

NICOLE PELLEGRINO (Stephanie) is thrilled to relive her awkward teenage existence with Griffin. She will always be a Munster High Mustang and a Northwestern Wildcat. Her favorite recent Chicago credits include The Snow Queen (Victory Gardens), The Truest Tale of Robin Hood (Actors Gymnasium), Sideshow (BoHo), The Fall of the House of Usher (City Lit), and The Awesome 80s Prom. She is also a proud company member of BeTheGroove, a Chicago based rhythmic performance ensemble. When not performing,Nicole is a teaching artist (and some-time circus artist or improviser) for Lookingglass Theatre,
AfterSchoolMatters, and the Actors Gymnasium. OMG! Love always to her family and The Logues.

DOUGLAS THORNTON (Jake) grew up right outside D.C. in Arlington Virginia. He is very excited to be working with Griffin Theatre again! He was last seen in Griffin Theatre’s How I Spent My Last Night on Earth. He graduated with a BFA in acting from The Theater School at DePaul University. His favorite
Collegiate roles include The Rajah in Mango Leaf Magic, Brindsley in Black Comedy and Cliff from Stone Cold Dead Serious.He would also like to say that he is, in fact, a Taurus, he likes odd flavored bubble gum and loves to play Scene It the board game.He would like to thank his parents, roommates and everyone
for their endless amount of support.

RANI WATERMAN (Christine Caniglia) is very excited to make her debut with The Griffin Theatre. She was last seen as Thetis in Lookingglass Theatre’s production of Hephaestus. Other Chicago credits include: Steppenwolf Theatre, Remy Bumppo, First Folio Shakespeare Festival, Redmoon Theatre, Serendipity Theatre Co., Sandbox Theatre Project and The Flying Griffin Circus. Regional and Off-Broadway credits include: The McCarter Theatre (Princeton , NJ), The Arden Theatre (Philadelphia, PA), The New Victory Theatre (New York, NY). She was also a company member with Mime! at Theatre Le Petit Louvre in Avignon, France and is currently a company member and arts educator with Barrel of Monkeys. She is a graduate of Northwestern University and The School at Steppenwolf. Many thanks to JB for all the support.

STEVE WILSON (Dad/Mr. Gretch/Mr. Reyes) is all about High School this year. He was last seen as Vice Principal Dee Lee in the House Theater’s production of The Attempters which will be heading to Theater on the Lake at the end of July for another go round! Prior to that, Steve was seen playing multiple roles in The Dining Room with New Leaf Theater. In real life, he is finishing up his first year as a full time high school teacher at North Lawndale College Prep. Steve is overjoyed to return to the very first theater in Chicago kind enough to hire him........The Griffin! Some favorite Griffin credits include The Stinky Cheese Man and Frindle. He is also a proud company member of The Hypocrites where he was last seen as Mr. Martin in Eugene Ionesco’s The Bald Soprano.

JONATHAN BERRY (Director) is a Griffin Company artistic associate. Griffin productions: All the Way Home, Fifth of July (both co-directed with Rick Barletta) Picnic, Time and the Conways (Jeff nomination – director/ensemble), Dead End, and the critically acclaimed Journey’s End. Other theaters include Steppenwolf: Gary (World Premiere); Steep Theater: The Resistable Rise of Artuo Ui (Suntimes and Tribune Top 10 lists for ‘06-’07); Lifeline Theater: The Piano Tuner (After Dark award – Best Production); Northwestern University: Candide, Wintertime, Mud, Sexual Perversity in Chicago. For 7 years,he ran The School at Steppenwolf. He has directed productions for Colombia College, Lake Forest College and North Park University and has been an adjunct Acting professor at Northwestern University. He will direct Marriage of Figaro for Remy Bumppo this fall and Busman’s Honeymoon for Lifeline this Spring.

WILLIAM MASSOLIA (Adaptor, Co- Artistic Director) is a founding member of the Griffin Theatre Company. As a playwright he is the author of many plays including, Letters Home, Stardust, Loving Little Egypt, Shakespeare’s Dog, Ash Can Alley, Frindle, There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom, Sleeping Ugly, Catherine Called Birdy, A Night In Mantua and Riding The Dolphin. His plays have been seen in cities across the country and his play, Letters Home will embark on a 10 city national tour in the fall of 2008. A
graduate of Southern Illinois University, Mr. Massolia is a past member of the League of Chicago Theatres Board of Directors and a recipient of an IAC 2000 Playwriting Fellowship Award.

BRANDON WARDELL (Set Design) is a freelance lighting and scenic designer, and recently received his MFA from Northwestern University. Recent lighting credits include Neverwhere at the Actor’s Gym, The Blue House at Adventure Stage Chicago, How I Spent My Last Night On Earth with the Griffin, Jitney at Pegasus Players, Cloud Nine, Pippin, and Old Times at Northwestern University, as well as Archangels Don’t Play Pinball, MiLK, and Buried Child. Scenic Design credits include The Prisoner’s Dilemma with Theatre Mir, In A Dark Dark House at Profiles Theatre, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui at Steep Theatre, Letters Home, and West Side Story. Teaching credits include Northwestern University, Columbia College Chicago, and The University of Chicago.

AMY GABBERT (Costume Design) is a freelance costume designer and art instructor in Chicago. She has her MFA from Northwestern University and BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Past theatre design credits include: Breathing Corpses at Steep Theater, Miss Witherspoon at the Next, Orpheus Descending at American Theater Company, and Can U Spot Me? Sandbox Theater Project, as well as
Infusion Theater, Northwestern University and North Park University.

LEE KEENAN (Lighting Design) is an Instructor of Lighting Design at Loyola University Chicago. He holds an MFA from Northwestern University, is a founding member of Sandbox Theatre Project, and is Resident Scenic and Lighting Designer for Silk Road Theatre Project. Lighting designs include Around the World in 80 Days (Lookingglass Theatre Company); Caravaggio (After Dark Award—Best Lighting Design) (Silk Road Theatre Project); The Attempters, Hope Springs Infernal, Hatfield & McCoy, Ellen Under Glass (The House Theatre); The Misanthrope (After Dark Award—Best Design Team); The God of Hell (Next Theatre); Time and the Conways (The Griffin Theatre); The Home Project (About Face Youth Theatre); Dorian (Bailiwick Repertory Theatre); A Polish Diva from Milwaukee (Milwaukee Repertory Theatre) and Short Shakespeare: Taming of the Shrew (Chicago Shakespeare Theatre).

RICK SIMS (Sound Design) Recent credits include: Sound Design: Sweet Charity at Drury Lane, The Attempters and The Magnificents at House Theatre, Talented Tenth and Black Nativity (co-design) Congo Square, Wedding Play at About Face (co-design), Four Places at Victory Gardens (co-design) Composer: Gary at Boston Playwrights/Steppenwolf, Huck Finn at Steppenwolf, Hamlet with Lisa Portes at DePaul.Other Credits: artistic associate of Lookingglass Theatre Company and author and composer of
the book, music and lyrics for Lookingglass’Hillbilly Antigone.Additional composer credits include Up Against It, Vanishing Twin,Her Name Was Danger and West for Lookingglass. This is his Griffin debut and he would like to thank Jonathan Berry and Griffin for the gig.

NOELLE HOFFMAN (Sound Design) is currently working at Steppenwolf Theater as an assistant audio engineer apprentice, where she has provided audio design support for their Climate of Concern readings as well as their online play Nine-Eleven, which was part of the recent 365 days and 365 plays series. Recent designs include Top Girls for 20% Theatre, The Real Thing, Lifeboat (American Premiere), and Blood
Wedding at PCPA Theaterfest.Thanks to everyone involved for this opportunity.

KEVIN O’DONNELL (Composer/Original Music) is very happy to be working with The Griffin Theatre for the first time. A member of The House Theatre of Chicago, Kevin has also worked with Lookingglass, Steppenwolf, Northlight, The Next, Collaboraction, ATC, The Building Stage, Redmoon,TimeLine, and
The Hypocrites, amongst others. His work in theatre has earned him 3 Jeff Citations, 10 Jeff Nominations, 2 Chicago Music and Dance Alliance Nominations (Outstanding Achievement), as well as 2 consecutive After Dark Awards for Outstanding Season. He also went to high school in New Jersey.

REBECCA BISHOP (Stage Manager) is a graduate of Winona State University with a BA in Theatre Arts and English Writing. Some of her previous credits in Chicago include, How I Spent My Last Night on Earth, Letters Home, and Dead End with the Griffin Theatre; and Ape with Dog and Pony Theatre.Other credits include ASM for East Carolina University’s Loessin Summer Theatre Production of Barefoot in the Park. She is so glad to be working with Jon Berry and the Griffin Theatre. She would like to thank all of her friends for their support and encouragement.

RICHARD BARLETTA (Director, Artistic Director) is a founding member of the Griffin Theatre Company. In his almost 30 years of theatre he’s directed over 125 productions, many of these with
the Griffin. Some of his favorites would include: Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night, All The Way Home, Ah, Wilderness!, Shake Your Groove Thing, Shakespeare’s Dog, Ash Can Alley, Henry and the Second Gunman, A Night in Mantua, The Whipping Boy, There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom, Frindle, There’s a Girl in my Hammerlock and Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging, for which he received a Joseph Jefferson Citation nomination. Richard holds an MFA in Directing from the Goodman School of Drama and a BS in theatre from the University of Evansville. In addition he has directed productions at the Theatre School, DePaul University and Loyola University in Chicago. He received Joseph Jefferson Citation Awards for both directing and ensemble with the Midwest premiere of Stags and Hens.
